Inspired by his idol Max Reger, Ivar Lunde, Sr. wrote several works for the organ. The Four Choral Meditations are actually four short and dreamy choral preludes using a highly chromatic language. The chorales used are well known to the Norwegian Lutheran congregations and include, Hark, the church bells are calling (Hyr Kor Kyrkjeklokka Lokkar), A Child is Born in Bethlehem (Et Barn Er Fdt I Betlehem), Oh Wounded Hart! ( Hjertens Ve!) and Built on the Rock the Church doth Stand (Kirken Den Er Et Gammelt Hus).
